MidnightSupport
A light on, 24 hours a day.

Support shouldn't keep office hours.

Midnight Support is a free, decentralised support network for the hours when nothing else is open. Built on Midnight — Cardano's privacy-preserving blockchain.

What it is

Someone there, whatever time it is.

Most support services close. Distress continues. Midnight Support is built by someone who used to work 9 to 5 supporting people as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in the NHS, then return home and log online to continue participating in mental health discussions and spaces on Discord, X and Twitch. I found home and community in these online spaces — even as far back as the year 2000 when I would sign on to Buffy the Vampire Slayer's official chatroom. Providing mental health support has been a passion of mine for over a decade and I now envision a way to provide this 24/7 within professional boundaries and linked into the privacy features of the Midnight Blockchain.

1. Testing

Initially the only person providing support via the app will be myself. This is an important testing phase where I make sure everything is working as expected.

Selected peers

2. Peer support

Peer support via the app will always be free, with the additional option to speak with qualified professionals at the affordable price of £1 per minute.

Clinic opens

3. Full app

Once we open our clinic in the free-to-play MMORPG Midnight City, the number of peers providing and accessing support alike will increase.

Why blockchain

Built on Midnight, for reasons that matter.

Midnight Support will run on Midnight — a data-protection blockchain built on Cardano. Those aren't buzzwords. For a support network, privacy isn't just a feature, it's mandatory: People reach out in their worst moments and do not want chat logs and records sitting on servers somewhere.

Programmable privacy

Midnight's tech is built from the ground up with privacy and legal compliance in mind. I would encourage you to read more about Midnight and private blockchain networks in general.

No single point of failure

Decentralised infrastructure means no single company can unilaterally shut this off, sell your data, or become a single target for attack.

Portable, verifiable identity

Your decentralised ID travels with you across apps without needing to trust a central login system with your details.

Selective disclosure

Zero knowledge proof technology allows you to prove you're a genuine person in need of support without revealing who you are. No account database to be breached, no identity to leak.

Meet Martin

Hi, thanks for looking into my app.

My name is Martin and I've worked in mental health since 2017. Midnight Support grew out of a simple observation: People can't or don't always seek help through conventional routes. As somebody who would regularly spend the overnight hours socialising with and supporting people from different countries and timezones across the world, I believe I have found a way now to safely continue this pasttime as a more structured service within observable boundaries. Building on Midnight was the obvious choice to make privacy the foundation, not an afterthought.

Important This app is a work in progress. I have challenged myself to ship a finished product within 1 more year, which I feel is a realistic timeline. Please also note that I do not provide therapy, diagnosis or clinical advice via this app. Although I am a qualified therapist, the Midnight Support app is designed entirely as an avenue of peer support. Any patients or clients I work with as a therapist will have recieved a signed Therapy Agreement. Please see www.lazytherapy.co.uk for more information on my private practice which, again, is entirely separate from Midnight Support.
The app

Coming soon.

The Midnight Support app is in development. In the meantime, why not register as a citizen of Midnight City
